Baseball greetings!

The 2009 baseball season is a special one for Louisville Slugger®, one of America’s most recognized brands.  It marks our 125th anniversary!

As president & CEO of Hillerich & Bradsby Co., the manufacturer of Louisville Slugger bats and other great baseball products, I’m particularly proud to have reached 125 years.  That’s because the company has been in my family the entire time.  My great grandfather Bud Hillerich made the very first Louisville Slugger bat.  He turned it on a steam powered lathe in his father’s woodworking shop in 1884. 

Louisville Slugger has remained in our family for five generations. That’s truly remarkable since research shows less than one percent of family-owned businesses ever make it to the fourth generation. We continue working hard to keep Louisville Slugger going into future generations of our family.
