New ASA 2004 Bat Performance Standard
Louisville Slugger has signed a new license agreement with the ASA regarding their new Bat Performance Standard effective January 1, 2004.
Effectively immediately, the following Louisville Slugger softball bats meet the ASA 2004 Bat Performance Standard and are permitted in ASA Championship Play bearing either the ASA 2004 mark or the ASA 2000 mark:

In addition, the following TPS softball bats meet the ASA 2004 Bat Performance Standard bearing the ASA 2000 mark. Players are permitted to use these bats indefinitely for ASA Championship Play. However, Louisville Slugger must cease production of these bats by June 30, 2004:

The following TPS softball bat currently meets the ASA 2000 standard and is permitted for ASA Championship Play until December 31, 2003:

Louisville Slugger is still in the process of testing slow-pitch model SB104 Response Ti XXL. We want to ensure that this model will be legal for play in 2004 and beyond.

SB103 GENESIS RE-CERTIFICATION PROGRAM EXTENDED
Louisville Slugger is announcing an extension to its re-certification program for SB103 Genesis bats that will bring them into compliance with the ASA Bat Performance Standard. The re-certification program has been extended through April 30, 2003.
- Consumers & Dealers should contact our Louisville Slugger Customer Service Department either by phone at 800-282-BATS (2287) or via e-mail at www.slugger.com to request a return authorization number and shipping instructions.
- Upon receiving your SB103 Genesis bat, Louisville Slugger will make any necessary modifications to bring it into compliance with the ASA Bat Performance Standard.
- Actual turnaround time will vary, but we will process on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Louisville Slugger will accept SB103 Genesis bats for re-certification through April 30, 2003. No exceptions after this date.

In late August the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) announced that Louisville Slugger slow-pitch model SB103 Genesis was withdrawn from ASA Championship Play until further notice due to noncompliance. Note this ASA ban does not apply to model SB34 Genesis bats.
