LOUISVILLE SLUGGER® MLB® AUTHENTIC CUT BATS

LOOK, FEEL AND SWING LIKE PRO BATS

LOUISVILLE, KY – (March 1, 2015) Every serious amateur baseball player dreams of swinging bats made from professional-grade wood, crafted the same way and in the same factory where MLB player bats are made. Now they can with new MLB Authentic Cut bats from Louisville Slugger, the Official and Number One Bat of Major League Baseball.

MLB Authentic Cut bats are created from the same high-quality wood the pros get, and they’re manufactured on the very same production line as the bats Louisville Slugger makes for stars like Adam Jones, Dustin Pedroia and Joey Votto.

“MLB Authentic Cut bats look and feel like big-league wood, and that is exactly what they are,” said Louisville Slugger VP of Marketing Kyle Schlegel. “These bats satisfy many of the same stringent quality assurance tests as the bats we ship to Major League® players. Louisville Slugger MLB Prime™ and now MLB Authentic Cut are the only wood bats on the market that carry the MLB mark right on the bat. MLB Authentic Cut is inspired by the pros, but handcrafted just for the amateur player.”

Louisville Slugger uses only the top 15 percent of the wood it harvests to make MLB Authentic Cut bats. Once that top-grade wood is selected, the factory manufactures them with processes reserved only for MLB-quality bats. Vacuum drying guarantees the entire billet is dried evenly and at a pace healthiest for the wood. Each bat is compressed and bone rubbed, compressing every cell to ensure maximum barrel hardness. Every MLB Authentic Cut bat features the Louisville Slugger advanced-finish process, giving players the hardest bat money can buy. Professional turning models and precision craftsmanship guarantee swing weight and feel that are second to none.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT MLB AUTHENTIC CUT WOOD FOR YOU

Five Louisville Slugger MLB Authentic Cut models are available: three maple, one ash and one birch.

The maple comes in the popular C271 and I13 models, as well as one professional turning model.

Both the ash and birch bats are Louisville Slugger professional turning models, just like the pros swing.

All models are available in 32”, 33” and 34” lengths.

Maple
Maple is the species preferred by most pro players. It features the ultimate surface hardness and provides an unmatched sound and feel at contact. Naturally harder, maple offers added strength at impact. Closed grains eliminate flaking, commonly seen with ash, allowing superior durability against delamination. The balanced swing weight of the C271 – among the top three turning models ordered by the pros – maximizes bat control and a player’s ability to get the barrel where it needs to be, when it needs to be there.

Birch
Birch, the fastest growing species in professional baseball, features the ideal combination of surface hardness and flexibility for increased durability. Hardness similar to maple provides great sound and feel at contact. Flexibility closer to ash allows for forgiveness on nonbarrel contact, decreasing the chance of fractured breakage. Lighter per pound than maple, birch also affords lighter swing weights for comparable turning models.

Ash
Ash, still widely popular among big-league guys, provides the ultimate in flexibility due to its unique grain structure. More forgiving than maple, ash rarely sees fractured breakage. Visible grain lines allow for noticeable quality, giving you the confidence you need when you step to the plate.
