H&B tees it up for further business expansion

Bats started Hillerich & Bradsby Company, but they're not its only mainstay. In 1916, the firm began making golf clubs, at a time when that sport was little promoted in America.

The H&B golf division, which first used the "PowerBilt" name in 1934, evolved slowly during its first 30 years. The division enjoyed considerable growth during the early 1960's, spurred by the golf boom and by increased acceptance of its outstanding clubs.

The PowerBilt reputation brightened further with the stellar performances of touring professionals who represented the company. Major tournament wins included the 1964 PGA Championship, 1967 Masters, 1971 Masters, 1979 Masters, 1984 U.S. Open, and 1987 Masters.

Today, top professional golfers still tee it up with PowerBilt golf clubs. They include: Bobby Nichols, Grant Waite, Chip Beck, Steve Lowery and Ted Schulz.
