LOUISVILLE SLUGGER® X-1 HI-TECH COMPOSITE BAT
NOW AVAILABLE IN ADULT MODEL
Louisville Slugger® TPX’s hi-tech Catalyst™ composite bat
has taken youth and senior league diamonds by storm the past two years. Now
the Catalyst is poised to stroke base hits for adult players as TPX introduces X-1
composite technology in an adult baseball bat with the 2008 CB81C model.
The newest Catalyst makes the X-1 composite technology now available across
Louisville Slugger’s entire baseball spectrum. The 2008 line of TPX® Catalysts
include the return of models for senior league and youth baseball. New lengthweight
ratio models are also available in both senior league and youth baseball
bats this year.
Whether it’s a line drive through the left side that brings in a run or a deep blast
out of the park, the Catalyst changes the outcome of the game. The bat’s stiff
handle and flexible barrel transfer more energy than the trendy, whippy-handle
bats touted by other bat makers. The result is more consistent performance from
the Catalyst and those who swing the bat serve as catalysts for their teams.
The Catalyst’s stiff handles prevent a loss of energy on off-sweet spot hits. Unlike
flex-handle bats, a stiff handle bat allows batters to “feel the hit,” providing
feedback to become a better hitter.
The Catalyst brought new X-I composite technology to senior and youth baseball
bats in the 2007 product line. Louisville Slugger engineers predicted the Catalyst
would change the way players think about bats because of its optimum
combination of performance and durability. The bat did just that, prompting those
same engineers to develop the Catalyst for adult baseball.
The Catalyst meets college and high school BESR bat standards. The youth
baseball model is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie Youth
Baseball, Pony Baseball, AABC and USSSA.
CATALYST’S X-1 TECHNOLOGY
Since turning its first bat in 1884, Louisville Slugger has set the standard for
performance technology at every level of play. Today, Louisville Slugger raises
that standard with the most advanced bat technology – X1 Composite.
That technology has produced the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst. It is made
from multiple layers of 100 percent aerospace-grade graphite, which are
embedded in a specially designed toughened epoxy resin. Each layer is precisely
positioned at an angle determined by Louisville Slugger’s exclusive computerdesigned
pattern. That’s what makes Catalyst perform so well while also
providing great durability.
Everything from the bat design to the equipment used in manufacturing was
developed by the Louisville Slugger Composites Research & Development Lab.
Controlling every aspect of design and manufacturing ensures that every bat is
consistently produced to Louisville Slugger’s high quality standards.
The 2008 lineup of X-1 Catalysts include the all-new adult baseball bat (CB81C),
senior league models in both a minus 10-ounce (SL81C) and the brand-new
minus 8-ounce model (SL82C) and youth baseball models at minus 10-ounce
(YB82C) and the new for 2008 minus 12-ounce model (YB81C). The adult
baseball Catalyst comes in a minus 3-ounce model ranging from 31 to 34 inches
in length. The senior league minus 10-ounce model ranges from 27 to 32 inches
while the minus 8-ounce comes in 30-, 31- and 32-inch lengths.
The youth models come in the new minus 12-ounce model ranging from 28 to 32
inches and a minus 10-ounce model offered in 30-, 31- and 32-inch lengths. All
models of the Catalyst have a synthetic grip with a 7/8” standard handle.
