Tech Tabs - Birch C271 Blue Steel
Seamless Decal Center Brand
Louisville Slugger’s innovative Seamless Decal technology give MLB Prime bats a pristine look – even after countless trips to the plate. Branding applied without added stress from pressure and heat blends into the bat as intricately as the grain itself, leading to a bat made of wood in its purest, hardest form.
MLB Prime End Brand
A new condensed appearance adds the finishing touch to the new MLB PRIME lineup, giving these bats a higher-end, cleaner look.
Looking at a bat, you may not see a difference in swing weight. But you definitely feel it. Swing weight is a determination of how a bat’s weight is distributed along its length, ranging along the swing weight spectrum from end-loaded to balanced.
C271 TURNING MODEL
The C271 is our most popular turning model at the Major League level and is the base model used to create all medium barrel turning models. Like the M110, the C271 uses our densest starting billet, giving this model consistent hardness. A standard handle, medium barrel and max knob taper create a versatile bat conducive to power hitters and contact hitters alike.
Birch is considered a relatively new species in the game, but is one of the fastest-growing among professional players. It features a surface hardness close to that of Maple bats, but an increased flexibility similar to that of an Ash bat.
MLB Ink Dot
Louisville Slugger ink-dotted bats are the highest quality wood bats in the game. Every maple and birch PRIME bat that meet slope-of-grain carries the Ink Dot and are approved for play in Major League Baseball.
ALL Prime bats feature EXOARMOR, a revolutionary finish that doubles the surface hardness of the bat. Three coats of EXOARMOR gives these bats a hardness you can hear and feel with every swing.
MLB Prime Block Grid
Custom MLB Prime
For more than 130 years, Major Leaguers have turned to Loiusville Slugger for our high level of craftsmanship and technology as we've tailored bats to palyers' specifications. Now, that same innovation and dedication in the form of a custom Prime bat is available to ballplayers everywhere.
From billet to bat, the timber Louisville Slugger carefully selects for Prime bats is the utmost in quality. We grade for excellence every step along the way, choosing only billets with the best features required to craft a log into a flawless bat. Players who swing Prime know their bat has been cared for from the beginning, ultimately giving Big Leaguers and amateurs alike the confidence they desire when they step to the plate.
Proprietary to Louisville Slugger, Prime bats now feature EXO ARMOR, a revolutionary finish that doubles surface hardness. Engineered for maximum hardness, you will immediately notice a superior feel and unmatched sound upon contact. EXO ARMOR is the next-to-last phase in the process of building your custom bat, enhancing the previous steps to guarantee a bat twice as hard as before.
MLB Ink Dot
The Ink Dot is the stamp of the highest quality wood bat. Bats that feature the Ink Dot and satisfy the strict slope of grain requirements by Major League Baseball indicate your Prime bat is big league quality and approved. Louisville Slugger Prime Maple and Birch bats carry this seal of approval. Due to its clearly defined grain structure, Ash bats are not subject to the Ink Dot test to be eligible for use by MLB.
