Four #LouisvilleLoyal Athletes to Play in Athletes Unlimited
Learn about the Louisville Slugger softball players competing in the 2021 Athletes Unlimited season.
Four members of the Louisville Slugger fastpitch advisory staff will compete in the 2021 Athletes Unlimited Softball League 2021 season, which is scheduled to begin Saturday, August 28 in Rosemont, Illinois. Kelsey Stewart, Aubree Munro, Aliyah Andrews and Courtney Gano will swing their Louisville Slugger fastpitch bats in Rosemont as they compete for the league crown.
The four #LouisvilleLoyal stars are set to contend for the Athletes Unlimited Softball League’s individual championship in 2021. Over the course of the five-week season, players will change teams weekly and have the chance to rack up individual and team points on each play. Over the course of the season, league players are ranked based on individual point totals.
Stewart, a Silver Medalist with USA Softball in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, returns to Athletes Unlimited for her second consecutive season. In 2020, the infielder swung custom Louisville Slugger fastpitch bats to hit .233/.283/.279 with two doubles, and she was a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts. Following an Olympic performance in which she hit a walk-off home run for USA Softball to down Japan swinging an LXT, Stewart is looking to carry her strong play into the Athletes Unlimited season.
Munro, who also won a Silver Medal as USA Softball’s starting catcher at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, is playing in her second Athletes Unlimited season. In 2020, the backstop hit .190/.261/.333 overall. Munro shined during the second weekend of play, using her custom Louisville Slugger LXT fastpitch bats to hit .400/.500/.700 with a home run and five RBI.
Gano and Andrews will swing Louisville Slugger in their first career Athletes Unlimited seasons. Gano, a USA Softball veteran, won the Gold Medal at the 2018 Japan Cup and the Bronze Medal at the 2018 USA Softball International Cup.
Andrews, a Florida native and game-changing outfielder at Louisiana State University, swung Louisville Slugger throughout her college career and recently became the newest member of the advisory staff. The rookie, a 2021 First Team All-SEC selection after hitting .365/.419/.479 with Louisville Slugger bats during her senior season, will look to continue her LSU success in Rosemont.
